La Tomatina - 27 August

The annual Tomatina or Tomato Fight. The plan is simple: from early morning on the last Wednesday in August each year, the packed crowds on the streets of Bunol are awaiting one thing and one thing only: The arrival of the trucks bearing thousands and thousands of over ripe tomatoes which they will, at mid-day, empty on to the street. The crowds can then spend the next hour throwing them at each other in an orgy of tomatoes and childish ecstasy.
